Cinerama Wide-Screen Projection

Submitted by Al …

(Adapted from The Encyclopedia of Photography ©1963)

Cinerama is a wide-screen process using three films made simultaneously with three interlocked cameras.

The films are projected by three synchronized projectors on a wide, curved screen, producing an image which partly surrounds the audience and giving an experience of participation in the action of the film.

Special devices are used on the projectors to cover the joints between the three projected images.
