Minolta Vectis 300 APS

I remember collecting this 1996 Minolta Vectis 300. It had been “hidden” in the hardware aisle. I was searching the Value Village on a Senior’s Discount Tuesday and had pretty well given up, as the regular places cameras could be found were empty. With nothing to lose and some time to kill I had widened my search. To be honest I have found when I, “Can’t be near the one I love, I love the one I’m near,” holds true in collecting too.

I also knew I had one of these cameras, but the one I had was flakey. It would fire up and then stop working. Anyway, these camera’s came in lovely cases that fit them like a glove. They are also startling in firing up as the metal lens cover flashes away so fast it seems to simply disappear.

As I remember, it you do have to press the flash back down again, but otherwise it is a lovely piece of metalwork. I think it was also one of the first metal bodied point-and-shoot cameras. I paid $5.13 for it (after 30% discount).

It is an APS camera with all the advantages that includes standard, like three formats, titling, and the like.
