This Olympus Tough TG-310 showed up at my local thrift store at the same time I found an Olympus Pen EE-2.
They were both:
Olympus products
very reasonably priced at $2
close to or something I already had
The knowledge of everything you have collected can really get stretched over enough years. I settle for collecting items that are massively undervalued where and when they appear because sometimes these items, once passed by, never return.
For example the Olympus Pen EE-2 is a fine little camera and although I didn’t remember I have its later cousin the EE-3, I did know I wasn’t likely to come across another in this lifetime.
The Olympus Tough TG-310 turns out to be exactly the same camera I collected in 2019.
In my defence: this TG-310 came with—
an Olympus case
and it is massively easier for me to play with this camera than find the camera I already have
Something others might fear is the camera’s that come with a battery, but no charger. Over the years I have collected several universal, adjustable chargers that generally work when I find the right combination. Occasionally you also find another camera’s charger will take your recently acquired battery. That was the case here, as the Olympus battery fits a FujiFilm battery charger. The battery charged up and the camera works fine.
The TG-310 is particularly fun because it has a "wide"—meaning it starts wider than the 35 mm (on a 35 mm film camera) usual starting point—3.6 x zoom and a 14 M sensor.
Of course, being a "Tough" camera it is waterproof to 10 feet and drop proof (within reasonable limits).
