Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS15

This Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS15 has a 16x zoom (from 24-300 mm 35 mm equivalent), 12.1 M files, a Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens, image stabilization, face recognition, and can shoot at a continuous 2 f.p.s.

It came with a CaseLOGIC case, a charge/USB cord, a 16 G SD card and it’s Lithium battery—all for $10.

It was an outstanding “find”, partially because this thrift store hadn’t produced anything worthwhile in several earlier visits and here they had come up with not one camera, but three. I had one of the cameras already, another had a cracked screen and then there was this camera. It was half the price of the camera I already had and the same price as the camera with a cracked screen, so deciding which camera to take was a no brainer.

Initially the lack of a charger had me a bit stumped, but then I thought, “Maybe there is a reason this camera came with a short USB cable.” Sure enough, plugging the USB cable into the camera and then plugging the cable into a USB power supply lit a small red light on the camera. This cord charges the camera’s battery!

The camera is a really solid piece of construction—it feels like quality in your hands. Although I don’t care, it has “Full HD” video capabilities. Just having a 16x zoom camera that is small is all I require!
