Pentax Espio 115 Camera

Submitted by Al …

I acquired this camera in October 2008. It was a gift from someone who knew I liked cameras. Released in 1992, the Pentax Espio 115 is a 35mm compact camera with autofocus and zoom lens. Also sold as the IQ Zoom 115, it is part of the Pentax Espio / IQ Zoom series of cameras.

Unfortunately, the camera was either dropped or handled very roughly, because the plastic hinge on the door is cracked and does not hold the door on correctly. That’s the reason for the grey tape on the back.

The camera features an autofocus f/4-f/8.8 — 38-115mm powered zoom lens, auto advance & rewind film, and a built-in flash. Images can be captured in the standard 24x36mm or in a panoramic 13x36mm format. The shutter speed is from 400 to 5 of a second. There is also bulb mode, from 1/2 sec to 10 minutes.

Mid-roll rewind can be done by pressing and holding the mode button. It is compatible with DX coded films from 25 to 3200 ASA. Non-coded film are set at 25 ASA.

A remote control is stored in a holder on the strap and can be removed by sliding it off. It allows tripping the shutter via infrared. The IR sensor is in the front of the camera. The remote shutter can be released with a 3 sec delay. The lens can also be controlled and zoomed in 38, 65 and 115 steps. It is able to operate at up to 5m (16 ft) straight in front of the camera.
